Our services
Fire damper remedials, repairs and installation
A report full of failures is only useful if somebody puts them right. We repair, replace and install fire dampers and access panels, so defects are closed out rather than carried forward into next year's report.
Putting failures right
Failures fall into a small number of recurring patterns, and each has a proportionate fix. Seized mechanisms and corroded components can often be serviced and freed rather than replaced. Missing or spent fusible links are replaced with the correct temperature rating. Blades fouled by paint or overspray are cleaned back to free movement.
Where a damper is beyond economical repair, distorted, or was never correctly installed in the first place, we replace it with a certified unit installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and BESA DW/145, including the builders work and fire-rated making good around the penetration.
Where ductwork has been altered and a penetration has been left with no damper at all, we install one.
Standards we work to
- BESA DW/145 Guide to Good Practice for the Installation of Fire and Smoke Dampers
- BS EN 15650 fire dampers for air distribution systems
- Approved Document B of the Building Regulations
- Manufacturer installation instructions and third-party certification
Access panels and enabling works
The single most common reason a damper cannot be tested is that there is no way to reach it. We install correctly sized, fire-rated access panels in ceilings, walls and ductwork so that every damper in the building becomes testable, and stays testable for every future visit.
All remedial work is photographed before and after, quoted line by line before we start, and reflected in an updated asset register so your records stay accurate.
